I love how Cori made her own wedding centerpieces by placing black and white photos into vegetable oil-filled mason jars. The oil preserves the photograph and gives it an aged yellowing effect. She added a sprig of dried lavender to make it smell nice.
Very, very creative idea!
ReplyDeleteI've also seen the mason jars with the neon light from glow sticks. I wonder if you could combine these two elements to light up the photo?
ReplyDeleteSo cool and classic !
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. But I have a question. If you take the picture out will it ruin the photo or if you leave it in will it ruin it?
ReplyDeleteYes I am sure that once it is in the oil that it is in there for good.... Make sure that you use a copy of the picture.
DeleteThat is just so pretty. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI saw this on pinterest today - which is the very first time I've seen pinterest. I LOVE this and can't wait to try it!!
ReplyDeleteREALLY COOL...I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE..
ReplyDeleteVery nice, great creative idea!
ReplyDeletewonder how long the photo will keep like this?
ReplyDeleteReally like the idea. Wonder how long these last...Won't the oil go rancid?
ReplyDeleteI am betting if you put some Lavender Essential Oil or Tea Tree Oil ..maybe a teaspoon or less in the quart of oil, it will last a long time... Great idea...
ReplyDeleteyou could also put two pictures together that way you see a photo from both sides of the jar
ReplyDeleteeach photo would be in the way of the other.
Deletepaste them together do its just one pic

ReplyDeleteI would imagine that a c-print (photo made from light - as it was with film) rather than an ink jet... but curious if anyone has tried either.

ReplyDeleteCan Olive oil be used as well, or just Vegetable Oil? Also how do you place the photo in the jar, with oil behind the photo or photo in back and oil in front on the picture? Hope that makes sense. I can't tell by the instructions if there is a right way to place the photo then the oil.
ReplyDeletecan it be a picture on regular computer paper?
